How can I force SSL on my website?

To force SSL on your website, you need to create a file called .htaccess in your chosen domains directory, then insert the following code;

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
RewriteRule (.*) https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [R,L]

If you already have a .htaccess file, paste the code at the very start and make sure that you don’t repeat the first line.

Please email our support team at [email protected], if you are having any difficulties with this process, and we will setup the redirect on your behalf.

Approved Redditor Owned Free Hosting

We are happy to announce that VimlyHost is now a Redditor Owned & Approved Free Hosting Provider. This means we have completed the test to prove we are an established hosting provider and the Free Web Hosting subreddit has accepted us onto the approved hosting providers list. Also, post’s by /u/kieran2001 on Reddit regarding hosting are on behalf of our company

Misleading Domains

We would like to remind customers our only official domains are VimlyHost.net, VimlyHost.co.uk and VimlyHost.com.

Any other domains containing our brand name are not owned, endorsed or affiliated with us in anyway whatsoever.

If you come across any domains containing our name, other than the ones above, please contact us with  the domain name and how you found it.

This announcement has been made, as a paid hosting business is trying to use our brand reputation to mislead our customers into buying products from them.

We have decided not to dispute it, nor pay £1,600 for the domains, as we don’t have that kind of budget as a free hosting provider and we believe it would make more sense to inform customers of this.

The domains themselves are of low value at a couple of dollars per registration and the majority of them are severely penalized by search engines due to their rare and usually abusive usage.

Furthermore, the domains are redirecting to a ‘competitor’ and most search engines don’t class them as real websites and if they are temporary redirects, the won’t be counted at all.

We appreciate your understanding in this matter, and if you have any questions or information regarding this issue feel free to email [email protected]

News : Hosting Application Information (February 2018)

We would like to apologise for the delay in the processing of applications over the past couple of weeks. We have received an overwhelming amount of registrations recently and as a result, our management team have struggled to activate all accounts in a timely manner.

Therfore, as of February 1st 2018, we will be disabling registrations and instead people interested in our service will have to fill out an expression of interest from. This course of action has being taken after careful consideration. However, as a result of dozens of people applying everyday, we have had to disable registrations as each account takes 20-30 Minutes to process.

Once all accounts have being activated which should be by Monday, we will reopen applications. Also, we would like to remind customers that we are no longer offering fast-track activation via email. However, customers are free to purchase a fast-track activation for £1 GBP by contacting our support team.

Once again, we apologise for the delay and we will be activating accounts and reopening applications as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience.

Why do you provide free hosting?

We have a number of partners that allow us to provide our free hosting, in return for advertisment of their paid services.

These advertisements are only placed on our website in the form of non-intrusive banners and third-party upgrade links. We do not currently advertise directly within cPanel, and we have no plans to advertise on clients websites.

However, clients are required to link back to our website and if they provide a commercial service, they are expected to upgrade to a paid package.

In addition to these advertisements, most customers don’t fully utilise the space provided to them, and although we can fully provision space for all customers, it’s unlikely to occur.

Therefore, we can safely oversell our free services without effecting the performance of our services.
